An exciting project is currently being handled at the handling terminal of IGS affiliate KTHN in Heilbronn. For our local partner and co-shareholder of KTHN in Heilbronn, the forwarding company W. Wüst, we are organizing the handling of over 50 room modules with individual weights of between 23 and 51 tonnes.
The modules are prefabricated, transportable room elements for construction projects, which are transported to the terminal by heavy goods vehicle and transferred to barges using our crane.
This project illustrates the competence within the IGS Group to provide customized logistics concepts for complex and demanding transports in addition to standard services. With our expertise and flexibility, we can move even particularly heavy and challenging freight reliably and efficiently.
We are at your disposal as a reliable partner for individual logistics requirements. Contact us and we will develop the right solution for your projects.

Krohn & Schröder GmbH in Hamburg relies on innovation and efficiency - not only in warehouse processing, but also in the cleaning of logistics areas. An autonomous cleaning robot has been successfully in operation at the Vollhöfner Weiden logistics terminal for several months. It ensures thorough cleaning of up to 1,000 square meters per hour, outside of regular working hours, so that logistics processes are not affected.
The use of the robot relieves our employees, allowing them to concentrate fully on their core tasks. Even peripheral areas and vacant parking spaces are automatically identified and reliably cleaned.
Thanks to additional charging stations, the robot's area of application is being expanded so that further warehouse areas at Krohn & Schröder can be cleaned in future. Based on the positive experience we have already successfully deployed another cleaning robot at our second Hamburg site in Finkenwerder Weg.
We are delighted that this technology not only increases the efficiency of our processes, but also makes our employees' day-to-day work noticeably easier.

Digitalisation in logistics: advanced order processing with tablets in the LCL sector at Krohn & Schröder
Efficiency and precision are crucial in logistics. For this reason, IGS subsidiary Krohn & Schröder has taken a significant step towards the future at the Port of Hamburg: Following a successful test phase, the unloading process at our container packing station in Hamburg has been fully digitalised for several months now, supported by the use of tablets.
While many packing companies in the Port of Hamburg continue to rely on traditional, paper-based methods, we have already successfully implemented the switch to a digital solution. Our warehouse team has embraced this change and quickly familiarised themselves with the new way of working thanks to comprehensive training.
The benefits of digitalisation are immediately noticeable. Tim Gaedicke, Managing Director of Krohn & Schröder GmbH, explains: ‘Digital recording minimises errors and the real-time updates speed up the entire process considerably.’ In particular, the ability to digitally document the condition of consignments directly in the warehouse is seen as a major step forward. Despite initial challenges, the new technology has proven to be reliable and user-friendly.
‘The tablets enable us to work faster and more precisely, while increasing the quality of our processes,’ emphasises Gaedicke.
The digitalisation of the unloading process is just one building block. We will continue to pursue this path consistently and look forward to further innovations that will increase our efficiency and improve service for our customers.

Successful test run: e-truck in Hamburg's regional transport network
IGS Schreiner GmbH from Hamburg has used an all-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 in a practical test.
The e-truck, equipped with a battery capacity of 336 kWh, covered almost 650 kilometers during the five-day test run, replacing a conventional diesel truck in Hamburg's local transport network. The vehicle was charged without any problems at the IGS logistics terminal in the Vollhöfner Weiden in the port of Hamburg.
There were no restrictions whatsoever in vehicle scheduling. Thorsten Gumbrich, Head of Domestic Transport at IGS, explains: “The e-truck fitted seamlessly into our operations. Our driver quickly got used to the new technology, especially the recuperation, and was pleasantly surprised by the performance and driving comfort of the e-truck.”
Christopher Venekamp, Sustainability Officer at IGS Schreiner GmbH, is also satisfied with the test results, but points out: “Currently, high mileages and a high proportion of toll kilometers are still necessary in order to be competitive. However, a recently published study by the Fraunhofer Institute on the cost development of alternative drive systems gives us hope that electric trucks will also be viable from an economic perspective in the medium term.”
Newsletter downloadSuccessful transition to HVO100 at CTR Container Terminal Regensburg GmbH
Following the successful transition to the environmentally friendly fuel HVO100 in handling operations at CDN Container Depot Nürnberg GmbH, CTR Container Terminal Regensburg GmbH has now also switched to HVO100 for its reachstackers.
At CDN in Nuremberg, the use of HVO100 has made it possible to reduce the CO2 emissions of the full and empty container reachstackers by up to 90 percent compared to diesel operation - without any loss of performance. We will now also achieve these outstanding results at the Regensburg terminal.
The expansion to other terminal and depot locations underlines the corporate strategy of IGS Logistics Group Holding GmbH, which focuses not only on environmentally friendly means of transport but also on low-emission handling equipment. The use of HVO100 is a further milestone in the gradual reduction of CO2 emissions in every part of the transport chain.
If you are interested in transporting your containers in a CO2-reduced manner, please contact us without obligation at sales@igs-intermodal.de to find out more about our sustainable solutions.
Together we are working on a sustainable future for logistics.
Intermodal between Hamburg and Oberpfalz:
On 11 June 2024, our summer reception took place in beautiful Regensburg, which we organized together with the Port of Hamburg. The event provided an excellent opportunity to meet and network with friends and partners from logistics, business and the Port of Hamburg in a relaxed atmosphere in the marquee, in the event container or in the outdoor area.
We look back on this successful day with great pleasure and would like to thank all our guests for the stimulating discussions and valuable exchanges. Special thanks go to our outstanding speakers: Axel Mattern from Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V., Karl Heinz Jackermeier from BioSyntech, Olaf Carstens from IGS Logistics Group Holding GmbH and Martin Jacobs from shipzero. We would also like to thank Karin Lengenfelder and Harald Rotter, who together led us through the event.
It was a pleasure for us to present the main topics of sustainability and decarbonization in logistics and to have aroused the interest of the participants. If you have any further questions about CO2 emissions reporting at IGS, please do not hesitate to contact us at sales@igs-intermodal.de.
We would like to thank you for a great event and are already looking forward to the next one.
CDN Container Depot Nuremberg relies on HVO100
CDN Container Depot Nürnberg GmbH, a company of IGS Logistics Group Holding GmbH, has successfully completed a test phase lasting several months in which full and empty container reach stackers were operated with the environmentally friendly fuel HVO100. The result of these tests was an impressive reduction in CO2 emissions of up to 90 percent - without any loss of performance.
HVO100 is a synthetic high-performance fuel that is produced from residual and waste materials, such as used cooking oils. No raw materials are processed that could also be used for food production, nor is palm oil used.
Our tests have also confirmed that HVO100 offers the same performance as conventional diesel in all areas of container handling.
IGS Logistics Group Holding GmbH has been committed to reducing CO2 emissions in logistics for many years with its intermodal rail network. In view of the positive results of the HVO100 tests, we are planning to switch further terminal and depot locations to this fuel in the near future. In addition, we are preparing the use of HVO100 in truck pre- and on-carriage.
If you are interested in transporting your containers in a CO2-reduced manner, please contact us without obligation at info@cdn-nuernberg.de to find out more about our sustainable solutions.
Together we are shaping the future of logistics - sustainably and efficiently.

From April 3rd, 2023 on, registered website users (shipment tracking) will be able to use the function to pre-register collections online.
In order to be able to use this function, please create an account via the login area of the shipment-tracking webpage (select "Register") entering your user name, e-mail and password.
A basic functional description is available on our homepage and shipment tracking webpage.
In the course of pre-registering a collection, you transmit all data, documents and the planned collection time in advance the day before, if possible until 2 p.m., and receive a pickup-PIN after the documents have been checked.
The driver then only needs to report to the import front desk presenting this pickup-PIN.
Please note that you will not receive immediate feedback on the registrations you have sent as it may take some time to check for completeness and consistency.
The pickup-PIN will only be generated after a positive result and is retrievable in your shipment tracking user area. In case of discrepancies or missing documents, the registration will be rejected and may be submitted again after correction or with added documents.
Due to the upstream document check, the on-site registration effort is reduced significantly, and thus also the general cycle times in front desk registration. In addition, active usage assumed, the planning security of all process participants increases. Please note that customs clearance of the respective shipments will only be checked upon arrival of the truck and remains a basic requirement to deliver a shipment.
Pre-registered trucks, provided they show up at the specified pick-up time, will be granted priority and therefore accelerated processing compared to unregistered vehicles, as long as they have been pre-registered punctual.
Please note that this means registering no later than 12:00 p.m. the day before for collections next morning and no later than 2:00 p.m. the day before for collections next afternoon.
Collections without prior online registration will still be possible, but if necessary subordinate, due to the priority of registered vehicles.

Dear ladies and gentlemen,
By amending the German VAT Circular on 06.02.2020, the Federal Ministry of Finance implemented a ruling by the ECJ (C-288/16) from 2017
implemented.
The subject of the amendment is the interpretation of the VAT exemption of export supplies to third countries in accordance with sec. 4 para. 3 a) aa): According to the court, this requires that the services are provided directly (=immediately) to the exporting client. For you, this means that VAT-free invoicing is only permitted if the invoice recipient is the direct sender or recipient of the goods.
This change comes into force on 01.07.2020 and affects all export transport orders that we carry out for you from this date.
If the tax exemption reason applies to you, please send us the export declaration for your transport without being asked, otherwise our service will be taxable from this date and you will be charged the then applicable VAT.
If you have any questions on this subject, please do not hesitate to contact us.
at your disposal.

Newsletter downloadIGS significantly expands Westhafen range
IGS Intermodal Container Logistics GmbH is now represented with its own office in Rotterdam. By strengthening its customer presence, the CT operator is responding to the positive response to its new western port services.
Hamburg/Rotterdam, 06.07.2018: IGS Intermodal is expanding its range of services via the western ports. It is also opening a branch in Rotterdam to strengthen its local operations and sales presence for customers. Johan de Jong, who has many years of experience in intermodal transport, takes over the management of the branch.
In cooperation with established rail and barge operators in the western ports, IGS offers regular connections between Rotterdam, Antwerp and Moerdijk and important economic regions from the Rhine/Ruhr area to Baden Württemberg and Bavaria. It seamlessly combines some of the products with its own hinterland network of terminals, depots and trucking organizations. This means that shipping companies and freight forwarders benefit from the flexibility and reliable handling of the entire transport chain from a single source. “Our customers are familiar with our service from the German seaports to southern Germany and vice versa,” explains Bernd Trepte, Managing Director of IGS Intermodal and a member of the IGS Group for 36 years. “As we have recently received an increasing number of inquiries for transports via western ports, it made sense to extend the proven services of our own southern German locations to transports to southern Germany.
In future, IGS customers will have three weekly services via Rotterdam to and from Munich, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Kehl, four to Mainz, five departures per week to and from Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Cologne and Leipzig and daily services to and from Neuss. IGS has also significantly expanded its barge services via Rotterdam: in addition to the existing services to and from Aschaffenburg, IGS offers three weekly services to and from Neuss, Mannheim, Stuttgart and Kehl and five services to and from Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Cologne and Krefeld. There are also five weekly services between Rotterdam and Leipzig and Moerdijk and Leipzig.
In terms of services to and from Antwerp, the focus is on the barge. Here, IGS offers two connections per week to Neuss, Andernach and Kehl v.v., three times Cologne v.v. and five times Düsseldorf and Krefeld v.v. In addition to the barge to Andernach, a rail connection is also available on this route. For urgent shipments, seaport transfers or reefer and hazardous goods containers, IGS also offers direct trucking in local and long-distance traffic from Rotterdam and Antwerp.
A novelty for shipping companies and freight forwarders is a comprehensive and neutral port-to-door tariff for all IGS barge and rail services. “At the click of a mouse, the customer receives an overview of all available price alternatives for the destination terminals and depots offered in a region,” adds Harald Rotter, who himself worked as Managing Director in Rotterdam for three years. “This makes it much easier for the dispatcher to always choose the most economical price in the dense terminal and depot landscape in the hinterland of the western ports.” IGS calculates individual offers for destinations outside the tariff. Further destinations and depots are to be added to the current connections step by step.
About IGS Intermodal
IGS Intermodal operates a port- and customer-neutral network of regular container block train services and inland waterway connections between the seaports and economic centers in Germany. This is supplemented by direct trucking in local and long-distance traffic. With its own offices in Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Rotterdam as well as terminals, depots and trucking organizations in Regensburg, Nuremberg, Munich, Aschaffenburg and a terminal cooperation in Schweinfurt, it offers shipping companies and freight forwarders all services in intermodal seaport-hinterland transport from a single source. In the Port of Hamburg, the rail subsidiary HBC Hanseatisches Bahn Contor ensures the transfer of trains from/to the terminals.

IGS Intermodal expands its train service Schweinfurt
IGS Intermodal expands its Schweinfurt - Hamburg/Bremerhaven v.v. train service in cooperation with NeCoss. At the same time, CDN opens a new empty container depot in Schweinfurt in cooperation with Translog.
Schweinfurt/Hamburg. For the IGS Logistics Group, the new year begins with new intermodal transports and a new location: CDN Container Depot Nürnberg GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary, is opening its new empty container depot in Schweinfurt on January 1, 2017. In close cooperation with Translog Transport und Logistik GmbH, which operates the intermodal terminal there, CDN offers all interested shipping companies and forwarders all the usual container-related services, such as storage, repair, cleaning and trucking.
At the same time, IGS Intermodal GmbH is significantly expanding its rail-road shuttle train services in cooperation with NeCoss: From this date, the IGS network will offer three additional export connections per week to Hamburg and Bremerhaven. This complements the existing import services. The loading times in Schweinfurt are Mondays and Wednesdays at 18:00 and Saturdays at 08:00 with arrival in Hamburg the following day. Shipowners and forwarders will benefit in particular from the proximity of the Schweinfurt terminal and depot to the heavily foreign trade-oriented economy of the Lower Franconia region.
Furthermore, in future it will be possible to pick up or drop off empty containers for the Schweinfurt area with the IGS trains from Nuremberg and Regensburg, so that shipping companies can regularly reposition their equipment between the locations. This enables an improved supply of empty containers for the export-oriented industry in Bavaria.
CDN provides its customers at the new location with all the usual EDI interfaces and automatic messages to the usual extent. In cooperation with Hamburg Hafen Marketing e.V., the partners will present their activities and new services at a customer event in Schweinfurt in February. The new depot offering is an important addition to the IGS Logistics Group's existing network locations in Aschaffenburg, Nuremberg, Regensburg and Munich (www.igs-intermodal.de).

Successful start with the takeover of ABEG's shunting activities
Hamburg, November 24, 2014: Hamburg-based zigsXpress GmbH and Deutsche Eisenbahn Service AG (DESAG) from Putlitz/Brandenburg have founded a new rail transport company, Hanseatisches Bahn Contor (HBC). The new company will start operations in January next year with the takeover of all current shunting activities of Anhaltinisch-Brandenburgische Eisenbahngesell-schaft mbH (ABEG).
The shareholder zigsXpress was founded three years ago by the IGS Group and the Zippel Group for the joint operation of an innovative rail network for sea containers. With the step of founding HBC, the path in intermodal rail hinterland transport is being further expanded. “The step towards our own rail transport company makes sense and is consistent,” emphasize the two Managing Directors of zigsXpress, Oliver Matthiesen and Marian Suhr. “After years of intensive activities as a rail operator on the connections from the seaports of Hamburg and Bremerhaven to Berlin and Buna as well as to Aschaffenburg, Kornwestheim, Munich, Regensburg and Nuremberg, HBC rounds off our offering as a fully-fledged rail operator,” the shareholders add. In addition to zigsXpress GmbH, DESAG, a subsidiary of the ENON Group, which is also based in Putlitz, is a co-partner of HBC.
ABEG's shunting activities are concentrated on the stations of the German seaports. With the takeover of these activities by HBC, the employees will also be transferred to HBC. “We are building HBC on the current field of activity in cooperation with the current owner of ABEG. We are benefiting from ABEG's experience and expertise and, together with ABEG, are focusing on further growth,” explains Matthiesen. He will join his colleague Suhr and Lutz Wörner in the management of HBC. Wörner had previously headed ABEG since March 2013. Headquartered in Hamburg, HBC plans to expand its position as a reliable rail transport company and, in the future, expand its portfolio to include further inland stations.
